Ride for Pride: James' 40-Mile Journey to Support Inclusion and Challenge Stigma

On Friday 26th July, James—one of our brilliant team members at The Eddystone Trust—will be cycling 40 miles from Taunton to Exeter as part of Ride for Pride.

It’s a journey that will take him through quiet country lanes, busy roads, and along the canal, but what drives James is something far more meaningful than the miles.

Ride for Pride isn’t just a challenge—it’s a chance to stand up for something that matters.

At The Eddystone Trust, we work across the South West to offer free and confidential HIV testing, deliver life-changing support, and provide inclusive, stigma-busting sexual health services. Every day, we meet people whose lives are shaped by discrimination, misunderstanding, or lack of access to the services they need. And every day, we work to change that.

James’ ride is a personal commitment to that mission—and a public one too. By taking part in our first ever Ride for Pride, he’s raising awareness, raising funds, and raising the profile of the work we all have a part to play in.

“I’m doing this because visibility matters,” says James. “It’s easy to feel like progress is happening elsewhere, or that someone else will fix things. But the truth is, we all have a role in making our communities more inclusive, more informed, and more supportive. Ride for Pride felt like a good way to combine that message with a bit of a physical challenge!”

We couldn’t agree more.

Support James’ Ride

James is raising money to support our frontline work—and every donation, no matter how small, makes a difference. If you’re able to, please consider supporting his ride:

👉 Donate to James’ Ride

Your donation will help fund free HIV testing kits,  sexual health outreach in community settings, and one-to-one support for people living with or affected by HIV.

Why it matters

Pride is about more than celebration—it’s about action. It’s about creating a world where everyone can access the support they need without fear, without judgment, and without shame. We still have work to do. But together, we can keep moving forward.

So whether you’re cheering James on from the sidelines, joining in with your own activity, or supporting the cause with a donation, thank you. It means the world.

Let’s keep the wheels turning.

Let’s ride for dignity.
Let’s ride for equality.
Let’s ride for pride.
