Shaping the Future of Sexual Health Self-Management in Devon & Torbay
Sexual health support is changing.
Across Devon and Torbay, more people are accessing information, testing and prevention tools in new ways - including self-testing, digital services and self-managed care. These developments bring real opportunities. But they also raise important questions:
Are people confident self-managing their sexual health?
Are professionals and community groups equipped to support conversations around sexual health?
Are we working as part of a network across sectors?
And are we making sexual health accessible to everyone?
We believe this is the right moment to take a step back and build something together.
Building a New, Connected Approach
We are developing a new approach to sexual health self-management across Devon and Torbay.
This work goes beyond information provision. Our ambition is to build:
-
A cross-sector network focussed on sexual health self-management
-
A shared resource hub for professionals and communities
-
Practical training that builds confidence in supporting people with their sexual health
-
Clearer pathways and stronger partnership working
But this cannot - and should not - be designed in isolation.
It needs to be shaped by the organisations already supporting people across our communities.
Why Weβre Hosting These Events
We are launching a series of partner insight events to bring organisations together and begin shaping this work collaboratively.
These sessions are not presentations or consultations in name only. They are structured working sessions designed to gather frontline experience, explore current challenges, and identify what would genuinely strengthen sexual health self-management locally.
We will be exploring:
-
What sexual health self-management means in practice
-
Current barriers and gaps
-
How a local network could function
-
What a useful training offer might look like
-
What a shared resource hub should include
-
How behaviour change approaches can strengthen outcomes
The insight gathered will directly inform how this new approach develops.
Who Should Attend?
We welcome colleagues from:
-
VCSE organisations
-
Health and care services
-
Education providers
-
Youth and community services
-
Housing and support services
If your organisation supports people who may access sexual health services, your perspective is important.

Be Part of Shaping What Happens Next
Sexual health self-management should not mean people navigating care alone. It should mean accessible information, confident conversations, strong referral pathways, and professionals who feel equipped to support people well.
This is an opportunity to influence how that looks across Devon and Torbay.
We would love you to join us.
