A New Chapter: Goodbye Factory, Hello Mansion
After a huge amount of time, energy, and heart, we’ve said goodbye to our long-term base at The Clay Factory in Ivybridge. This wasn’t just an office move — it marked the end of a chapter we poured ourselves into.
From the very beginning we had a vision to transform a long empty, factory space into something special: a thriving, creative space for the local community. It was a labour of love, and for years it gave us a home that reflected our values of collaboration, accessibility, and local impact — a project built from the ground up, fuelled by passion, graft, and a strong belief in the power of creativity and connection.
So, it’s fair to say that leaving wasn’t easy.
Like all community-led projects, The Clay Factory faced challenges in recent times — many of them stemming from external circumstances that were beyond our control. Ultimately, these circumstances made it increasingly difficult to continue operating from the site as we’d originally envisioned. Though we remain incredibly proud of everything achieved at The Clay Factory, and grateful for the connections forged, the time came for us to move on.
But we move forward — and we’re excited to start our next chapter in Totnes.
We’ve now settled into The Mansion, a beautiful, community-run space in the heart of the town. Managed by Totnes Community Development Society, The Mansion is everything we were looking for in a new home. It reflects our belief that spaces should serve people, not profit, and we’re proud that our rent supports a wider mission of community good.
It also makes practical sense — Totnes is ideally placed to support the growing reach of our work across Devon and Torbay, Plymouth, and Cornwall, while keeping us connected to Somerset, Gloucestershire, and beyond.
We’re excited for what’s ahead and incredibly grateful to be part of another unique space that prioritises people, community, and shared purpose. Who knows — maybe in twenty years’ time, this way of working will become the norm, and we’ll see more landlords embracing models that put people and community at the heart of their operations.
