HIV Testing Week 2026: Working Together Across the Region

HIV Testing Week 2026 is fast approaching, and across the South West we’re gearing up to make it our biggest and most impactful yet.

HIV Testing Week is about more than just testing. It’s about normalising conversations around HIV, increasing knowledge, challenging stigma, and making it as easy as possible for people to access the information and support they need to look after their sexual health.

A Regional Approach

This year, we’ll be working right across the region - from Devon and Torbay to Cornwall, Somerset, Gloucestershire and Plymouth - delivering a mix of community outreach, pop-up testing sessions, partnerships with local organisations, and targeted communications.

By working locally but thinking regionally, we’re able to reach people where they already are: in community spaces, at events, through trusted partners, and online. This joined-up approach helps ensure consistent messaging while still responding to the needs of individual communities.

Increasing Knowledge, Reducing Barriers

A key focus of HIV Testing Week 2026 is increasing knowledge about HIV testing. Many people still don’t test because they’re unsure where to go, what testing involves, or whether it’s relevant to them. Others avoid testing because of stigma or fear.

Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing clear information about:

  • Who should test and how often

  • The different ways to test, including free and confidential options

  • What HIV treatment looks like today

  • The reality of U=U (Undetectable = Untransmittable)

Alongside this, we’ll be offering HIV testing in community settings, helping to bring testing out of clinical spaces and into everyday environments.

Community, Partnerships and Visibility

HIV Testing Week works best when communities lead the way. We’ll be working closely with local partners, services and community groups to amplify messages, host sessions and reach people who might not otherwise engage with sexual health services.

We’ll also be using our platforms to share materials, promote events, and highlight why testing matters.

Why HIV Testing Still Matters

HIV testing saves lives. Early diagnosis means people can access treatment quickly, live long and healthy lives, and prevent onward transmission. Yet too many people are still diagnosed late.

HIV Testing Week 2026 is our opportunity to change that - together.

For now, we're asking you to save the date: Feb 9th-15th 2026.

Keep an eye on our website and social media for updates, events and ways to get involved. Whether you test, share a post, attend an event or start a conversation, every action helps.
