16 Days of Activism: Standing Against Violence Towards Women and Girls

Today marks the start of 16 Days of Activism, a global campaign led by the United Nations and supported by the World Health Organisation, dedicated to ending violence against women and children.

Violence and abuse against women and girls remain some of the most common and devastating forms of abuse in the UK. Every day, too many people experience physical, emotional, and digital abuse simply because of their gender. That’s why we are proud to stand alongside local authorities and organisations across the South West in calling for an end to all forms of violence against women and girls.

Events Across the South West

16 Days of Activism is not just a campaign—it’s a movement, with events, awareness initiatives, and opportunities to get involved taking place throughout the South West. Whether you want to learn more, offer support, or join a local event, there are plenty of ways to participate.

Here’s what’s happening in your area:

How You Can Get Involved

Even small actions can make a difference:

  • Attend local events to show your support.

  • Learn about the signs of abuse and how to respond safely.

  • Share awareness messages to help challenge attitudes that allow violence to persist.

16 Days of Activism is a reminder that ending violence against women and girls is a shared responsibility. By raising our voices, supporting survivors, and standing together, we can help build safer communities for everyone.
